What is Yoga?

Yoga is a complete science that originated in India thousands of years ago. Yoga is a healthy way of life accepted all over the world. It is the oldest system of personal development in the whole universe. Yoga helps in balancing our body, mind and our soul. yoga is a discipline which can be helpful differently to different humans.

DEFINITION OF YOGA

Yoga in Sanskrit is known as “Yuj” which means to unite, to invoke or to balance. it simply means the union of body, mind and soul. Its aim is the unity of the entire well being. Yoga allows us to live in the present for the right thought and right action rather than staying in either past or the future.  It teaches us how to live our lives with awareness.

YOGA – JOURNEY WITH OURSELVES

Yoga is also described as a journey unveiling the layers of the mind and body. Also, Yoga is a journey towards the divine life.  It introduces us to our true self. A human’s true self is his true nature which is pure and clear. It removes the impurities of the body and the mind and removes the veil of ignorance that keeps us strangers to ourselves.

YOGA – AS AN END AS WELL AS MEANS

Yoga in literature is used as both as an end as well as means. As an end, yoga signifies the “integration of our personality” at the highest level. As means, yoga comprises of various techniques and practices which helps to achieve the development of such transition. These practices and techniques are commonly termed as yoga.

YOGA – LIVING IN THE PRESENT

Through Yoga, our mind stays in the present. A normal human mind usually stays in past or future. But with yoga, our mind learns to be aware, to live in the present, to not process the thoughts that distract a human body. It helps us learn how to live and reconnect with our true nature.

YOGA – FAR BEYOND PHYSICAL LEVEL

Yoga is not just a physical exercise, it is far beyond our physical body. Usually, people make mistakes by understanding yoga as a physical aspect. As people are more concerned about their outer body rather than taking seriously about what is going in their minds.
